BatchRename Free is an application to rename up to 500 files and directories at once. It is a great side-tool for any user who deals with a large amount of files and directories, and who needs to keep them organized and named in a specific way or following certain standards.
With this application you can easily select a directory or a batch of files for renaming. This edition is free, so, unlike the Pro edition, it does have a limitation of up to 500 files per task whilst the Pro edition has no such limits. However, much can be done with this free edition - this application will allow you to define your own commands or parameters, so that you can specify exactly how you want it to rename every file and under what conditions. Yet again, this feature is limited to seven commands per batch. However, all basic renaming commands are available, like adding prefixes, suffixes, inserting, removing, truncating, replacing, and changing between upper and lower case. You can combine any or all of these to do specific tasks, and to get exactly what you need. In addition to all this, you have other useful options, like copying/moving a batch to a new path.
Last but not least, you will be able to preview the changes before the program actually performs them, something other similar programs lack, and which is essential in this type of tools. Though it may take the user a bit of time to get used to the interface, BatchRename Free will definitely be a great help and a comprehensive tool when it comes to renaming large amounts of files.
